My Best Hair Day EVER!

I wasn't exactly sold on the idea of cutting Audrey's hair.

It felt as though I was trimming away at her childhood or something. Plus, there was literally NOTHING wrong with her sweet baby locks in the first place.

Even the hair stylist said her hair was remarkably even (meaning perfect), considering it had never been cut.

I agreed. 

But then Daddy had this genius idea- that he and Audrey would cut their long locks together.

So, I was in.

We didn't exaclty know what to expect.

I mean, have you brushed Audrey's hair lately? 

It's not exactly "fun".

In fact, it's about as far from fun as I think this child gets. She hates, HATES, HATES getting her hair brushed. You'd think she was being abused. 

But, to our surprise...

And, thanks to this magic no-pain brush I'm now obsessed with and all my Mommy friends need to buy RIGHT NOW. 

Audrey. Was. Perfect.

A total natural. 

A little sweetheart, just sitting back, relaxing, and taking in all the girly-girl pampering. 

Next to Daddy.

She loves her spa days.

I can already tell. 

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. 

And, we were so impressed with our darling girl. 

I told the stylist to keep her hair AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, but to clean it up as needed. 

What can I say... Audrey was amazingly beautiful before, during and after this haircut. 

In fact, I can hardly see a difference.  

She's just perfect, as usual. 

But, that didn't keep me from documenting the you know what out of this "baby's first" moment... 

After this great adventure, we treated Audrey to a night at the movies (Monsters University is NOW playing guys), and a sweet treat from See's Candy.

Oh, and in case you're wondering... No, I didn't save any of her hair for the baby book.

I think that's weird. 

And, John turned out pretty cute too...

However- even 94 pictures later- I don't have any of him to show you. 

Oopsies!

Service with a Smile!

While we were in Austin (a fabulous trip I'll be blogging more about soon), we enjoyed lunch one day at Blake's on 6th. 

Unfortunately I had to skip out early for work, but I heard the food was delicious...and of course the service was the best in town!

If you ever go- ask for Amy- our delightful waitress.

Since that lunch, Audrey's favorite new game has been playing waitress... Walking around to everyone in the room.... "What you want eat?"... Taking orders (for once not giving them)...Then going over the her pretend kitchen to cook... plate her creations...and deliver on a tray with a smile....

So, it was just perfect to have spotted this ridiculously adorable waitress costume last weekend at our favorite (old fashioned) toy store in Old Towne Orange- Tiddlywinks.  

"What you want eat?"

We have hamburger,

Pizza,

Pasta,

Milk, 

Cookies...

But, don't ask for anything on the side... Or else.

Food's ready!!!
"Help yourself!"

And, no matter what you order- 

you get birthday cake!

Motu Teta: Part II

I'm still not over my trip to Motu Teta.

This stunning, stunning, stunning PRIVATE ISLAND resort in Tahiti is insane. Honestly, lifestyles of the rich and famous, and I cannot believe how lucky I was to have been given this unforgettable vacation.

You've probably already seen my vacation video here, but let me tell you a little more about the trip...

Traveling to Tahiti really didn't feel as long as I was expecting. 

Friends, from now on- if you're considering a vacation to Hawaii, TRUST ME, spend three more hours on the plane and get yourself to Tahiti instead. You won't regret it. Tahiti is beyond beautiful, and obviously the country offers an international experience you can't get in Hawaii. 

This was my first time taking a redeye flight, which was amazing because I don't have issues sleeping on planes. I was honestly asleep before we even left the ground at LAX (thank you, Benedryl) and woke up to hitting the ground in beautiful Papieti, Tahiti at about 6am (local time).

The next leg of my trip was a one hour, inter-island flight to Rangiroa at 1pm. Rather than waste the day sitting at the airport, I rented a car and hit the road. I drove along the water, and covered the entire island in about 3 hours... Just in time for breakfast. 

The drive was beautiful. Coast views the entire ride and it was interesting to briefly see how Tahitians live, their day-to-day, farmer's markets and grocery stores, school bus stops, people just living... in paradise.

During my drive, I spotted an Intercontinental Resort that looked very nice so that's where the I finished my afternoon on Papieti.

I had enough time in Papeti to enjoy {a stupid-expensive} breakfast, walk on the beach, lay by the pool, and sip on a few island refreshments.

The airport in Tahiti is NOTHING like what we're used to. I showed up about 25 minutes before my flight, walked easily through security and up the stairs to my plane. Like I said, it was a one hour flight (if that), and I was once again on the ground, this time in Rangirora. 

This is a super small and skinny island is the closest with air service to my next stop- the super exclusive, absolutely exquisite private island- Motu Teta.

I was greeted at the airport by Hugo, Motu Teta's Excursion Director, and his assistant. The two walked me across the street from the airport to their boat. And, we were off to Motu Teta. The 1.5 hour boat ride was actually really great {coming from someone who typically gets sick on boats}. The cool breeze, and of course scenery made the time fly. It was relaxing. 

Oh, and this cold one also helped pass the time. 

Now on to Motu Teta...

It immediately felt isolating, in a very, very good way. 

The only thing you see for miles, on all sides of the island, is rich blue and turquoise water, gentle waves, abandoned islets...It's basically the definition of paradise.

Was enjoyed with friends... Really amazing friends. 

Not only did I catch my first fish at Motu Teta, but I speared it through the eyeball on my first try. 

I was impressed with myself, as you can see...

Speaking of catching things in the ocean, this also happened- 

We saw lots of sharks... Like up to 10 at one time, swimming together this same distance from my feet. Yikes!

It was sunny at Motu Teta (shocker). 

Perfect burning bronzing conditions.

In addition to eating my very own catch, the food (and presentation of every meal) was first-class. 

Foodies look alive- this place is no joke.

This was a small old church we visited on a nearby, abandoned island. 

We thought it'd be fun to hunt this lobster late one night. 

Probably after a few island cocktails...

Who's idea was this again?

And, this was a bit scary too... in the middle of the ocean, after snorkeling literally through hundreds of fish, reef and even sharks...

But, I survived.

For the most part it was a really, really relaxing vacation.

I'm so lucky to have had this incredible experience...that I know will be repeated {hopefully over and over} for many years to come. 

I know you all would love it too... Particularly John and Audrey...

You're such a fun, special boy that we love, love, LOVE so much!!! We can't believe how much you're growing up, nonetheless growing up to be such an intelligent, kind, funny boy. 

We're so, so proud of you.

While we're having a blast in Austin, we're missing you and know this trip would be even better with you and Cole with us... But, in a matter of weeks {fingers crossed that Dad will approve} you'll be at our house, whooping it up SoCal Style! 

Not to fear- beach and Disneyland days will be included.

We hope you're enjoying your special day, and that by now you've settled in nicely at your new place. Moving is not easy, but usually always worth the effort.
