DC.

Before I get all European up in here (yes, we leave IN A FEW DAYS...what!?!?!?!?!?!), I owe you one fine American vacation recap...

It all started with Audrey's longest flight of her life... which was managed by yours truly....solo... and will be totally trumped (as in more than doubled in length) in a matter of days...when we go to EUROPE....what?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Anyway, the journey to DC was a L-O-N-G one.
Luckily, our layover in Denver included manicures at the airport spa. What?!

John was away at a conference in DC for a L-O-N-G 3 weeks before we decided to go visit him, and spend a week in our nation's capital. I'm VERY happy we decided to visit. I'd never been to DC, and while I knew what to expect more or less, I did not anticipate loving the city as much as I did.

It was an amazing week...

Of course, we hit the key sites including, but not limited to

The Capital

Lincoln Memorial

The National Monument

The White House

The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
(yes, that's a butterfly on Audrey's leg)

The National Zoo

Jefferson Monument

National Air and Space Museum

And more...

But, overall we really just had a lot of simple, good 'ol fashion American fun too. From umbrella sword fights, ice cream stops, and a trip to ABC/Politico.com on election day to carousel/bus/metro rides, a few visits to Georgetown (including the university) and lots of lots of walking frolicking in the beautiful fall leaves!

Thanks again to John, the major smarty pants in our lives, who gave us a really fabulous excuse to visit DC!!! xoxo

Now, we're off to Europe... right after I finish preparing the surprise very American Christmas I've been planning for Audrey tomorrow... and unless I somehow squeeze in editing this DC video too... Fingers crossed. I'm literally counting down the hours at this point.

love, kerry
