Toast is the NEW, one-stop blog for women in northern Nevada. There's nothing else like it. Period.

And, I'm so excited that the Carson Tahoe Women's Health Institute, with some expert PR and emerging media counsel, took the initiative to launch a site like this in our area. It's been needed for a long time, and it was my pleasure to help develop, design and launch this exciting social campaign. 

First of all, the Toast brand and blog is absolutely beautiful {if I do say so myself}. Click here to take a look. A perfect blend of playful-fun-girly, and sophisticated-rich with informative content-valuable. 

And, Toast isn't just a blog. It's a complete social campaign including a presence on the most popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Vimeo.

One year ago today...

It's TRULY unbelievable to me that it's been one year since I started K. Sutherland PR. And, I'm even more ridiculously in awe of the amazing, incredible, seriously perfect, dozens of brands I've represented since I first launched. I'm so, so lucky.

I work really hard too. And, I simply love it. 

As if it could get any better, I feel even more lucky to have such dedicated, committed, hardworking, BRILLIANT people to work with... Jill, Steph, Ryan, Sarah- you mean so much to me, honestly. I appreciate you so much.

I've been really excited about my one year business anniversary. It just feels like an amazing accomplishment....One year?!?!??!?!?!??! How? Why me???? What?!?!?! 

This year has been more work, stress, excitement than I could have ever imagined.
But, all so soooo worth it.

My co-workers, family and friends were so sweet to me. Texting, flowers, champagne, cards, emails and more congratulating me on my first year. Broken record, but I'm seriously such a lucky girl.

My day was perfect. 

But, it just kept getting better....

I was surprised today with something so insanely #major, and completely unexpected, it's still hard for me to even type on this blog post.

Here it goes...

Today I was given a vacation to Motu Teta, an all-inclusive, private island resort in Tahiti. I leave next month. I cannot believe it. And, I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND, as if that wasn't enough....

The girls got me the most beautiful, Tiffany's infinity necklace (knowing exactly how sentimental gifts get me every time). They explained that this day marked the first year, but K. Sutherland PR was forever.... They even noted that that infinity symbol was the number 8 on it's side... I'm a sucka for details like this; they know me so well.

And again, I'm so lucky. 

It was such an amazing day, and I'm so grateful for everything and everyone in my life.

Here's to many more amazing years to come!

Take 2

I realize that you're probably a super fan and follow both love, kerry, and my agency's blog... BUT, this news is so MAJOR, it merited a duplicate post!

Meet Jill.

We first met in Leadership class at Bishop Manogue. How appropriate, and Go Miners! I was a senior, and she was a newbie freshman. Obviously, we both shared a love of planning {pep rallies}, managing {school elections}, organizing {spirit squads}, and networking {with lots of friends}. Leadership fits PR pros, I think. 

Then, naturally our paths crossed often at the University of Nevada, Reno J-School, the occasional Nevada Greek event, and more. We both enjoyed a study-abroad-adventure during college (Jill en espanol, and me en fracais). And since then, and perhaps most importantly, have each worked extremely hard to to learn and grow as public relations professionals. 

Jill is a brilliant writer, and thinker. She knows how to create and execute PR plans that are effective for clients, and make a real difference. She has impeccable taste, style, and a sincere appreciation for {real} good food…and wine. Oh, and her positive attitude, awesome sense of humor and undeniable Nevada pride (like only a native can understand) are ridiculously amazing extras. 

She's simply… Major.

Jill, you are the best addition to K. Sutherland PR that I could have ever wished for, and I'm beyond thrilled you're the agency's new PR Director {but also, my good friend}. Welcome! I know you'll love it here!

Introducing....

I don't even know where to start. 

Thank you SO MUCH to my amazing family and friends who have all been so supportive these last few weeks while I've been a stressed, frazzled mess. And, especially thanks to those who MADE THINGS HAPPEN, literally overnight, just to help me hit the ground running. 

Only two days in to this new venture, and things are looking GOOD.

Real good. 

I made the best decision. 

And, I am so happy.

Independence Day

Good morning,

This day is finally here!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Independence Day. 

Few of you know this, but two weeks and one day ago, I quit my job for something bigger.

Goodbye consistent paycheck.
Goodbye retirement fund.
And, {sadly}, goodbye to some really talented, really fun, just really good people- some of my former co-workers.

But, I'm only looking forward now, and I'm moving on to something better- my own business.

MY very own PR and Marketing Agency. 
MY chance to do business the way I want to do it. MY chance to execute work the way I want to do it. MY chance to work with clients the way I want to do it. MY chance to do business where I want to do it. MY chance to have complete control over the way MY team will work internally.

I have a vision, a plan for something new.

Something that I believe my future clients, my future employees, and of course myself will really be happy about.

As you can imagine, today will be busy.
Bring. It. On.

I'd also like to mention that in addition to being my first official day "on my own", today is also Audrey's 17th Month Birthday! Yay! And, if that still wasn't enough to make 2/8 special forever- our good friends, Jamie and Graham are in Kauai today- getting married.
